Tante & Tante
|
Tante & Tante is a post-performance duo by Eirini and Angelina Kartsaki, that combines vocal improvisations, surreal situationism, auntie story-telling and synesthetic messthetics. Their intense synchronic chemistry comes with such self-ridiculing critical distance that the result is always a midpoint between ballet-like modernist beauty and the most uncomfortable of spectacles. Being sisters in real life, they have spent a whole childhood together, during which they have been inventing games played by the two of them, which could be played anywhere, at any time, in any context. Eirini Kartsaki creates and writes on performances that use repetition as a structural and expressive means, interested in the repetition of performance in memory. She is a a Teaching Fellow in Theatre and Performance Studies at Queen Mary University of London. Angelina Kartsaki is a musician, performer and visual artist living in Berlin. Her interst lies in the combination of different art practices in order to produce experimental forms in the fields of music theatre, contemporary music, free improvisation, performance art. In Sound Acts the two of them presented "Over You", their first live performance in Greece.
