Stellan Veloce
|
Stellan Veloce is a Sardinian composer and performer. Holding a cello degree, they are studying composition at the Universität der Künste, Berlin. Their work ranges from instrumental compositions to performance art informed pieces. Beside composition their activity as a musician ranges from pop music to free improvisation; this influences greatly their work as a composer and feeds their inclination for collaborative work. In their performance for Sound Acts "The Subtleties of Pokeberry Rouge" Stellan focused on the human voice and its role in the construction of a sense of self. They used vlogs of transgender youtubers in order to investigate the form, genesis and repercussions of shared narratives, as well as recordings from Dolly Parton’s autobiographical reading as an example of post-human, hyper real femininity. The work is also interested in Helmut Lachenmann's concept of “Musique concrete Instrumental” juxtaposed to Judith Butler's Theory of Performativity as a method to work with sound and voice.
